The Case of the Missing Letter
Anna writes a letter to her friend Nafy and it mysteriously dissapears......

At first it was just a normal day at the Larson's special little log cabin.

Anna was composing a letter to Nafy Merriman from Pleasantville DC after faithfully listening to Nafy Cast Episode #13.  She was now working on her rough draft.

Marta was across the yard doing one of her chores-feeding the animals. "Oh Dear, the horses are out of water! Anna did you get some this morning?" Marta asks to a distracted Anna.

"Hmmfff....yesh, but we drank it all this morning." Anna replies.
"Alright, well I am going to go on a walk and fetch some water on my way home." Marta says and she takes off.

"Oh this will be fun, I have never been back here much!" Marta skips behind the barn.

Meanwhile in the house Peder climbed up into the food cupboard and started pigging out.
"Appwles, pwrs and orangs are yummmmy!" Peder says through a mouth full of food.

"Peder Dana Larson, I TOLD you that you need to rake the lawn. There are pine cones everywhere.......Peder!?" As hard as she looks, Kirsten can't find him. She finally sighs and gives up.

Anna finally finished her letter and had retired to the loft to write the adress and add the stamp.
I can't wait for her to get thish letter....she thinks.

After stuffing the letter into the envelope she lays back in bed to take a quick nap that didn't turn out to be so quick.
When she woke up the house was silent. She looks to her trunk where she left her letter but it is...not....there!

Anna creeps down the stairs and yawns. When nobody is around she runs back upstairs and frantically tears the room apart. "PEDER!" She grumbles.

She even looks under Kirsten and Marta's bed just in case the wind blew through the door, up the latter into the loft and blew the letter across the room.

Outside Kirsten pulls the families sled out of the dusty back of the barn and shields her eyes from the sun.
"Marta hasn't shown up all day. Where could she be, Hunt?" She is carrying a few necessities that Marta might need such as a warm jacket.

In the front yard there is still no one around. Anna hops on Khyber and decides to go looking for Peder. (Who has probably ran into the woods in fright because she was so scary, she thought.)

She hops across one roaring end of the waterfall. Khyber is a very brave horse and does not falter. He is not scared of the water.

After landing swiftly on his feet on the other side of the river, Khyber takes off behind the barn.

"Marta?!?" Kirsten calls.

"Peder?!?" Anna yells.

"Marta?!?" Kirsten calls.

"PEDER?!?" Anna yells.

"Aroo!" Hunt howls.

"Anna!" Marta says excitedly. "I've been lost in the forest and you have finally found me.....oh good. I thought I'd never make it out."

Anna looks startled.
"Well...hoi there Marta. have you seen my letter?"
"Your letter?" Marta asks, she's startled now. They stare at eachother for a minute then smile and start walking in the direction which Anna just came.

"Kirsten? What are you doing in that tree?" Peder asks sleepily, emerging from the house and patting Hunt on the head.

"...and then I heard this big noise and I thought it was a bear or something, but it was Anna yelling '"PEDER!"' and I was startled because I had heard all kinds of noises that day. But then she asked me about her letter and I was even more surprised......"

Marta tells everyone her story about being in the woods.
"...Yes it was pretty scary and Anna....did you ever find your letter" Marta changes the situation suddenly.

"No." Anna says sadly. "I guess I'll have to do it again."

"My word I am hungry. Marta reaches into the picnic basket that Kirsten packed and pulled something out while still talking to Anna.
"Don't worry, I'm sure she won't mind if you have to make a new letter."
"I know but I have to write it all over again in my nice writing!" Anna exclaims.

When Marta looks down she is not holding a juicy peach in her hand, she is holding a piece of paper and not only a paper.....Anna's letter!
"But how did this get here?" She, Anna and Kirsten ask eachother.

Peder looks as embarrassed as a five year old can get.

"I took Anna's wetter when she fell asleep because I never get mail and I showd! I put it in the foowd basket and thought she found it and mailed it already. I didn't know where it went...." He hung his head. Kirsten burst out laughing.

"I was in such a hurry to find Marta that I must've shoved food and the letter in the picnic basket without noticing! I didn't even see Peder in the cupboard I was in such a hurry."

Anna was so glad to see the letter that she didn't even yell at Peder.
"I am going to mail thish right now." She says....
And she did.
